The overall business activity in the Republic of Serbia intensified in 2023, with gross domestic product growth remaining at the previous year's level of 2.5%. Industrial production grew at the same rate of 2.5%, which in 2022 grew at a rate of 1.7%.

Positive macroeconomic trends are indicated by the increased investment and credit activity of companies, which was positively influenced by the slowdown in inflationary trends, which last year grew at a rate of 7.6% compared to 15.1% in 2022, as well as a relatively stable foreign exchange course.

At the end of 2023, a total of 136,602 companies were active, and 113,714 of them submitted a regular annual financial statement to the Serbian Business Registers Agency. Of those, the preliminary aggregate data processing included 110,808 companies, whose data were entered into the database for statistical purposes. A total of 1,307,587 employees were engaged in those companies.

Companies increased the scope of their overall business activity, achieving total revenues of RSD 18.7 billion, 2.9% higher than last year, and total expenditures of RSD 17.5 billion, 2.3% higher compared to 2022.
