The Agency hereby informs all legal entities that are obliged to record data on their beneficial owners, in accordance with the Law on the Central Records of Beneficial Owners, that the Central Records of Beneficial Owners (CRBO) is now integrated with the Central Population Register (CPR), which is maintained by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.

This implies that when entering the unique citizen identification number (“JMBG”) or foreigner registration number (“EBS”) of the beneficial owner, through the SBRA user application, the natural person will be automatically identified in the Central Population Register and the data on the name and surname of that person will be uploaded to the Central Records of Beneficial Owners as well.

The Central Records of Beneficial Owners is part of the system for combating money laundering and terrorist financing in the Republic of Serbia and was established with the intention of giving competent authorities unrestricted access to up-to-date and readily available data on beneficial owners of legal entities and other entities registered in the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with international standards that are an integral part of Recommendations 24 and 25 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Additionally, the integration of CRBO and CPR represents a step further in harmonizing domestic legislation with the European Anti-Money Laundering Directive, in terms of verifying the identity of the beneficial owner through automated checks via other registers.
