The Serbian Business Registers Agency takes care of the archive created in the procedure of registration, which today occupies 35 kilometres of shelf space. Most of the archival records are preserved permanently, thus turning into a cultural asset, while other documentation is destroyed upon expiration of the retention period, in compliance with applicable regulations and general acts of the Agency.
The Agency publishes on its website registered data stored in the centralized electronic data repositories of the 22 registers and records it currently maintains. The paper documentation created in the procedure of registration, which is an integral part of the SBRA registers, is kept in the Agency's archives, which also comprises the paper archival records that were collected by commercial courts, the National Bank of Serbia, ministries and local self-government units, which was taken over by the Agency when keeping the registers became its responsibility.
The entire archival and documentary material is available to citizens. Thus, the Agency ensures full transparency of the procedure of registration and operations of the business and legal entities registered with the Agency.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia assigned to the Serbian Business Registers Agency a 4,200-square-meter building, located in 1b, Oslobodjenja Str. in Rakovica, to permanently store and preserve the archival and documentary material. The Agency renovated the building out of its own funds, adapting it to serve as a facility that enables storing and preservation of the integrated archival and documentary material in one location.
The archival depots placed in the building where the Serbian Business Registers Agency keeps its archives are arranged by the highest international standards. The Agency’s back-up data storage (the back-up “data centre”) is also located there. Therefore, the Agency fully meets the requirements prescribed by law regarding the establishment, development and protection of electronic databases and custody of the archives, employing the archival material processing, management, storage, preservation and protection measures.
A well-equipped archives reading room is made available to the citizens within the new building of the Agency, as well as a counters hall, where citizens are provided with other services of the Agency.
The statement by the Head of the Serbian Business Registers Agency’s archives, Slavica Narandžić, providing details on the documentation kept in the archives, how it is preserved and who it is used by most often, can be viewed on the SBRA’s YouTube channel. It can also be downloaded from the webpage www.infobiro.tv.
