At the beginning of 2023, there were 435,257 registered business entities in the Republic of Serbia in the Business Entities Register, 20,552 more than at the beginning of 2022.

In 2022, there were 11,241 incorporations of companies and 41,628 incorporations of sole proprietors, 16.70% and 21.08% more compared to 2021, respectively (in 2021, there were 9,635 incorporations of companies and 34,378 incorporations of sole proprietors).

According to their registered business activities, the largest number of companies and sole proprietors incorporated in 2022 was registered for 'Non-specialized wholesale trade', 'Computer programming activities', 'Business and other management consultancy activities', 'Construction of residential and non-residential buildings', 'Freight transport by road', 'Restaurants and mobile food service activities', 'Hairdressing and other beauty treatment', etc.

In 2022, 8,416 companies and 24,026 sole proprietors were struck off from the Register, 19.40% and 4.80% more compared to 2021, respectively (in 2021, 7,046 companies and 22,934 sole proprietors were struck off).

According to their registered business activities, the largest number of struck-off companies was registered for 'Non-specialized wholesale trade', 'Business and other management consultancy activities',  'Restaurants and mobile food service activities', and 'Construction of residential and non-residential buildings'.

The largest number of struck-off sole proprietors was registered for activities such as 'Restaurants and mobile food service activities', 'Beverage serving activities', 'Hairdressing and other beauty treatment', 'Business and other management consultancy activities', 'Taxi operation', 'Retail sale in non-specialised stores with food, beverages or tobacco predominating', etc.
