The Map of the Regional Development Measures and Incentives Register (RegRDMI Map) has been published today by the Serbian Business Registers Agency. The Map displays sets of information on state investments, economic development, and economic potential containing the annual data for 2023.

The data presented on the RegRDMI Map show that the implementing authorities of regional development incentives have managed to implement incentives in a significant amount in 2023. The total realized incentives in 2023 amounted to RSD 282.6 billion, 22.5% more than last year. The share of non-refundable funds amounted to RSD 262.4. billion (92.8%), of which RSD 114.8 billion was allocated to non-refundable subsidies. Compared to the previous year, subsidies were increased by 30.7%.

Of the total realized incentives, the largest part was directed to the economy, i.e. RSD 127.8 billion (45.2%) to companies and sole proprietors, RSD 55.3 billion (19.5%) to institutions in the field of education and science and RSD 48.0 billion to agricultural households (17.0%). Compared to the same time period last year, there was a significant increase in incentives given to agricultural households (approximately 2.5 times more) and local self-government units (1.5 times more).

According to the purpose of investment, 85.7% of the total realized incentives (RSD 242.2 billion) were directed to: traffic infrastructure (RSD 68.5 billion); education, science, culture and sports (RSD 51.4 billion); encouraging agriculture (RSD 49.6 billion); encouraging manufacture (RSD 35.3 billion); encouraging scientific research and development (RSD 23.1 billion) as well as communal infrastructure (RSD 14.3 billion). The investments in the afore-mentioned areas were increased by 28.5% compared to the same time period last year.

The Map provides key data on the economy and the non-profit sector, in total and on a territorial level, for the past four years in the form of tables and graphs integrated from different sources (state authorities and organizations, as well as other registers within the Agency’s competence), in order to provide a comprehensive overview of the development of the domestic economy.

The information presented on the RegRDMI Map, where all municipalities in the Republic of Serbia are displayed according to the achieved level of development pursuant to the current regulation, is a particularly useful source of information for potential investors in the Republic of Serbia. Prior to investing in a particular territory, they are interested in obtaining and reviewing, both the characteristics of the achieved economic development and the potentials for the development of the selected territory, starting from the size of the territory, population, qualification structure of the unemployed, as well as other elements of the territorial development. It is also useful for regional development entities in the process of making decisions on incentive investments aimed at strengthening the economy of a particular territory and raising the level of competitiveness of the economy in that territory, all with the aim of reducing uneven regional development.

All data published on the Map is available to users free of charge. By performing the appropriate search, they can obtain data in the form of data sets for all four territorial levels (the Republic of Serbia, regions, districts, and municipalities).
