In the first four months of this year, the Register of Financial Leasing decided on 9,541 registration applications, of which 9,495 registration applications were granted.

From 1 January to 30 April, 4,562 financial leasing contracts, totalling EUR 135.3 million in value, were registered.

The number of registered contracts has increased by 48.7% this year compared to the same period last year, when 3,068 contracts - totalling EUR 87.3 million in value - were registered. Nevertheless, the level of the pre-COVID-19 epidemic period (the first four months of 2019) - when 5,309 financial leasing contracts, totalling EUR 137 million in value, were registered in the Financial Leasing Register - has not been reached yet.

In the observed time period (I-IV 2021), vehicles accounted for the highest percentage of the items procured through financial leasing, of which passenger vehicles accounted for 53%, followed by trucks (26%) and other types of vehicles (14.8%). Machinery and equipment was the object of the financial lease in 6% of the registered contracts, followed by real estate (0.2%).

Legal entities accounted for the highest percentage of lessors (84.4%), followed by sole proprietors (8%), natural persons (7.5%) and state authorities (0.1%).

As at 30 April 2021, there were 57,423 active financial leasing contracts registered in the Financial Leasing Register, totalling EUR 1.8 billion in value. Real estate totalling EUR 27.8 million in value was subject to financing in 60 financial leasing contracts.

This is to remind that the Register of Financial Leasing enables the submission of electronic applications for registration of financial leasing contracts, as well as all other types of e-registration applications, as of 1 January 2021. In this way, the Serbian Business Registers Agency has enabled this register to switch to a fully digital mode of operation.
